I can vouch for this. I was diagnosed with arthritis in my fingers this time last year. However, with perseverance and continuing to practice yoga (well, I couldn't really give up my yoga career could I?), I can honestly write that I have not had any problems for at least 9 months. In fact I have forgotten about the diagnosis until now.
Yes, it hurt to practice at first, but over time, I have felt no pain from pressing in to my fingers while doing downward dog like I used to.
